Determining The Number of Email Accounts Needed

Each Inphase hosting plan provides a set number of email accounts according to the parameters of the plan. However, you can increase the number of email accounts and/or the size of the email box for your hosting plan without upgrading to the next larger hosting account.

There are two things you should consider when planning to increase your email accounts:

  • Your email activities uses your account’s web space and bandwidth resources

  • There is a small service charge for increasing the size or the amount of accounts you have for your plan

The Service Charge

The service charge is small, but necessary, to help control the server’s resources. It will only increase your overall hosting cost by pennies per account, depending upon how many and how large you increase them. We have found that if you maintain your email accounts on a regular basis, the assigned size of the account is adequate for the type of hosting account for which it was designed.

The Account’s Resources

It is a good rule to remember that everything you put on your hosting account takes up the account’s web space. And everything you do through your hosting account uses your account’s bandwidth.

Tips for Resource Planning

You should have no problems with any moderate increases. The following tips give you something to consider before you do make a change:

  • Plan ahead. How many email accounts do you actually need?

  • What type of emailing will you be doing? Email marketing, service rep, etc.

  • Who will be using the account? One account per person, or several people for one account?

  • How do you want to represent your business? Personal, social, friendly, or strict business like?

  • Do you need an account for each department?

  • Do you have several employees in each department?

  • Does each employee need his/her own account?
